Draft for legal review

Messages connect you with the people who make the clothes. These rules keep that safe for both sides.

What are messages on Wumn for?

In short

Talking to a maker about her pieces: a size, a fabric, a date, or a piece made for you.

A conversation is between you and the shop, on Wumn.

  • Asking. Message a shop from its piece or its page. A new conversation reaches the maker as a request, which she can accept, decline or block.
  • Made to order. Tell the maker what you want and share pictures. She answers with an offer, a price and a date, which you accept or decline in the conversation.
  • What you can send. Words, pieces on Wumn, pictures through Add inspiration when you ask for a piece made for you, and video meetings you book together. Wumn never records a meeting.
  • If you are a maker. You reply to a customer who wrote to you, about what she asked. You never start a conversation to sell, never message her again after she asks you to stop, and never send offers she did not ask for.
  • Not for. Selling or paying outside Wumn, advertising, or anything the Community Guidelines forbid.

Community Guidelines

Can I pay or share my number in a chat?

In short

Pay only on Wumn. A payment outside Wumn has no refund, no return and no help from us.

Never share a phone number. Yours is never shown to a maker.

Every order is paid on Wumn, so it is covered by returns, refunds and customer care. A maker never asks you to pay her directly, by UPI, a bank transfer, a link or cash, and you never ask her to.

Your phone number is never shown to the maker, in messages or on your order. The courier gets it from Wumn to deliver your parcel. The maker sees your name and delivery address, because the parcel needs somewhere to go.

If a message has a phone number, a link or a mention of WhatsApp, Wumn adds a line under it that you both see: “A contact detail was shared. Anything paid outside a Wumn order is not protected, and we cannot refund it.” The message itself is not blocked or changed.

If you are a maker: asking a customer to pay outside Wumn, or for her number, breaks the Community Guidelines, and your shop may be suspended or closed.

What will Wumn never ask me for?

In short

Your sign-in code, card number, CVV, UPI PIN or a password.

Nobody from Wumn, and no real maker, asks for them in a message, a call or an e-mail.

  • Your sign-in code. You type it on wumn.in or partner.wumn.in only. Wumn has no passwords. Anyone who asks for your code is trying to take over your account.
  • Card details and UPI PIN. You type them only in the payment window at checkout. Wumn never receives them.
  • Paying to get money. A refund comes back by itself, to the way you paid. Wumn never asks you to pay a fee, scan a QR code, approve a UPI request or install an app to receive one.
  • Cash at the door. Wumn has no cash on delivery, so a courier never asks you for money.
  • Links and offers. Wumn’s pages are on wumn.in. Wumn sends no marketing SMS or e-mail, so an offer, a prize or a sign-in link that claims to be from Wumn and sends you anywhere else is not from us.

Had a message like this? Do not answer it. Report the conversation if it is on Wumn, or write to care@wumn.in if it came another way. If you shared a code or card details, call your bank at once.

How do I block or report someone?

In short

Open the conversation’s menu, or its details, and choose Block or Report.

A person at Wumn reads every report. Urgent ones are acted on within 2 hours.

  • Report. From the conversation’s menu in your list of messages, or from its details. Choose the reason that fits and add a line if you want. A shop is never told who reported it.
  • Block, as a customer. Blocking a shop takes its pieces and posts out of your feed and search, ends your follow and stops messages both ways. The shop is never told who blocked it. You can unblock it from the conversation or from your settings.
  • Block, as a maker. A new conversation arrives as a request you can accept, decline or block. Blocking a customer stops her messaging you, and the conversation leaves your inbox.
  • What happens next. A person at Wumn reads the report. A request to remove something is decided within 36 hours. If the conversation breaks the rules, the account behind it may be suspended or closed.
  • Urgent. An intimate image of you shared without your consent, someone pretending to be you, or a child at risk: choose that reason, and we act within 2 hours.
  • Who knows. Wumn never tells the other person that a report was made, or by whom, and never shows your report to the shop. In a conversation between two people, the other person may guess; telling you they know is itself against the Community Guidelines.
  • Evidence. You may take a screenshot of a message to send to Wumn with a report. Do not post it anywhere else.

When can Wumn read my conversation?

In short

Only when it is needed: a report, a problem we are asked to decide, or the law.

Conversations are kept on Wumn so that what was agreed can be checked.

Your conversations are between you and the shop. Wumn’s team does not read them, except:

  • A report. When someone in the conversation reports it, a person at Wumn reads what was reported, to decide it.
  • A problem to decide. When you or the maker ask Wumn to decide a return, a fault, or a dispute about a piece made to order, we may read the conversation, because the offer and what was agreed are in it.
  • The law. When a court or an authorised government agency lawfully orders it. We answer a lawful request for information within 72 hours.

Every decision our team makes is recorded. Messages are not end-to-end encrypted: they are stored on Wumn’s servers in India, so they can be read back when one of these happens. A computer also checks every message for a phone number, a link or a mention of WhatsApp, to add the warning above; no person reads a message for that. Video meetings are never recorded by Wumn.

Who sees your information, in the Privacy Policy

How do I stay safe in a video meeting with a maker?

In short

A maker never asks you to undress. Measurements are taken over clothes, or by you, never by camera without them.

Nobody records a meeting without the other person’s consent. Wumn never records one.

  • What a meeting is for. Talking about the piece: the design, the fabric, how it should sit. To take measurements, the maker talks you through doing it yourself, over a fitted layer.
  • Never. A maker never asks you to undress, to turn the camera to your body, or to send a photograph without clothes. If one does, leave the meeting and report the conversation under “Nudity or sexual content”.
  • Recording. Neither of you records, screenshots or shares a meeting without the other’s clear consent. Capturing someone’s private body without consent is a crime under the IT Act (s.66E) and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (s.77).
  • After. Anything agreed in a meeting goes into the conversation in words, so both of you can see it.

What can be shown of a body, in the Guidelines

Who sees the measurements I share in a chat?

In short

Only the maker you share them with, in that conversation, and only until you stop.

Your measurements are saved as versions and never overwritten.

  • Shared by you. A maker sees nothing until you share your measurements in your conversation with her, from its details. Sharing with one maker shares nothing with another.
  • One version. She sees the version you shared. If you save newer measurements, she keeps seeing the shared one until you share the newer one.
  • Stop sharing. Stop at any time from the conversation’s details, and she sees nothing more.
  • What stays. An offer she has already sent, and a piece already being made, keep the numbers they were made with, because the piece is cut to them.
  • How close. A piece made to your measurements matches them within 0.5 inch around the body and 0.25 inch along it.
