Selling on Wumn
Draft for legal review
Designers, boutiques, studios and fashion labels sell on Wumn. You sell your pieces to the customer; Wumn is the marketplace that books the courier, handles returns and complaints, and sees your money settled to you. The rules are the Business terms; this page is the short version.
Who can sell on Wumn?
Designers, boutiques, studios and fashion labels who make their own pieces and send them themselves.
One account can be more than one kind. You must be at least 18.
You can sell on Wumn if you make the clothes you list, or have them made for your label, and send each one from your own pickup address; you run a business in India with a GSTIN; and you are at least 18 years old. Imported pieces only if you are authorised to sell them. A sole proprietor, a partnership, an LLP or a company may apply. One account may claim more than one kind of seller.
What do I need to apply?
Four steps: your business, your pickup address, your bank account and your store.
Each is checked by a machine before a person reads it.
- Your businessYour GSTIN. We read your legal name, trade name, PAN and registered address from the GST portal.
- Pickup addressWhere the courier collects your parcels. We check that a courier reaches the PIN code.
- Bank accountYour account number and IFSC. We send ₹1 to check the account is open and the name matches your business.
- Your storeYour store’s name, its handle (the address of your shop page) and the kind of seller you are.
Nothing else is asked before approval. Your bank account number is stored encrypted, and only its last four digits are shown back to you.
What happens after I apply?
A person at Wumn reviews your application.
When approved, Wumn tells you your rate, records a signed agreement and opens your Home.
We read what you sent and may ask a question. When we approve your shop, we tell you your rate, record your signed agreement and open your seller Home. You then add your pieces; each one is reviewed before it goes on sale. The Business terms, which you accept when you apply, are the written agreement between you and Wumn.
How am I paid?
Every Friday, for orders whose 7 days return window has closed with no return open.
The price less Wumn’s commission (set by Wumn, told to you first), the GST on it, GST TCS and income-tax TDS.
The payment company’s fee is Wumn’s to pay.
The customer pays through an RBI-authorised payment aggregator: today Razorpay Software Private Limited, which settles to Wumn, and Wumn settles your share to your verified bank account. Wumn is moving to Cashfree Payments India Private Limited’s split settlement, which will pay your share straight to your account; we tell you before it changes. Your tax invoice for the customer, commission, TCS, TDS, chargebacks, freight and the legal time limit are all in the Business terms.
What may I sell, and what may I not?
Clothes and accessories you make or have the right to sell.
No fakes, no copies of someone else’s design, nothing illegal.
Counterfeits, replicas, misused GI names, the national flag below the waist, protected wildlife and anything the law forbids are never allowed. The full list is in the Business terms.
What must a listing say?
What the law asks a label to say, including the country of origin and, for an imported piece, the importer’s name and address.
Only what is true, and never a price above the MRP, inclusive of all taxes.
The full list, with the fibre composition, the measurements and what customers see about you, is in the Business terms.
Who pays when something comes back?
A fault in the piece is yours: the refund and the postage.
Wumn pays the postage for fit, another colour and late delivery. A change of mind costs the customer the postage.
Returns come back to your pickup address. Wumn books the courier.
Who pays for each reason, disputes and a return the courier loses are in the Business terms.
What about my posts, reels and stories?
The Community Guidelines apply to everything you post. No music you do not own.
A paid collaboration is said to be one, clearly and up front: “Paid partnership” or “Sponsored”.
How Wumn may use your posts, on Wumn and in its marketing, is in the Business terms.
What do I see about my customers?
What you need to make and send her order, and nothing more.
Never her phone number, never what she spends elsewhere.
- Her first name and photograph, when she joined, the city of her latest order with you, and the orders she has placed with you.
- The delivery name and address on each order she places with you.
- Her measurements only if she shares them with you in your conversation, and only until she stops sharing.
- Her phone number never: the courier receives it from Wumn.
- Never what she spends with other shops.
Use what you receive only for her order. Never for marketing, never to contact her outside Wumn, and never shared with anyone else.
