Marketplace disclosures
Draft for legal review
Wumn is a marketplace: the maker sells to you, and Wumn runs the platform. The law asks a marketplace to tell you these things, plainly.
What does Wumn show me about a seller before I pay?
The maker’s shop name on every piece, in your bag and at checkout.
On the piece page: her city, her page, her rating once she has reviews, and the piece’s product information.
- Wherever you pay. The shop’s name is on the piece, in your bag and on each parcel at checkout, so you always know who you are buying from.
- On the piece page. The maker’s name, linking to her page, her city, and her rating from her third review.
- Product information. Under the piece: its country of origin, net quantity, who packed it and, where the maker gives one, a customer care contact.
- Her page. Her pieces, posts and reviews, with Follow and Message.
Sold by. On the piece, in your bag, at checkout and on your order: the seller’s registered business name, whether she is registered for GST and her GSTIN, her address, and her customer-care phone and e-mail. A complaint to her goes to that e-mail; until she gives one, it is Wumn’s, care@wumn.in.
How are my feed and search results ordered?
Your feed is newest first, from every maker on Wumn.
Search puts pieces you can buy now first, then how well they match your words.
The same rules apply to every seller.
Your feed shows posts and pieces from every maker, newest first. Nothing else changes that order: not how much a maker sells, not her rating, not what she pays Wumn. Makers you follow can also appear with pieces they shared. Your feed leaves out shops you blocked, posts and pieces you marked Not interested, and anything with one of your hidden words.
Search orders results by these, most important first:
- Whether you can buy it now: in stock and on sale comes before sold out.
- How well it matches your words: the piece’s name counts most, then its category, then the shop’s name, then its description.
- How many people bought it in the last week.
- How many people saved it in the last week.
- How new it is.
A collection shows as one result. You can sort search by newest or by price instead, and filter it by category, size, colour, fabric, price and maker. Manage what you see from Profile: Hidden words and Blocked shops.
How is a paid placement labelled?
Today nothing on Wumn is a paid placement. No maker can pay to appear in your feed or search.
If that changes, every paid card will say so on the card, at the top, before anything else.
If paid placement opens, a paid card will carry “Sponsored” on the card itself, never hidden in a caption, and this page will say how paid cards are chosen before the first one shows.
A maker’s own post about a gift or a collaboration she was paid for must already say “Paid partnership”, “Sponsored” or “Ad” at the start of its caption.
Does Wumn treat some sellers differently?
Every seller’s pieces are checked, ranked and shown by the same rules.
The commission each seller pays Wumn can differ. It is never added to your price, and it plays no part in ranking or search.
- The same checks. A person reviews every piece before it can be sold, by the same standards for every shop.
- The same order. The feed and search treat every shop by the rules above. No seller is placed higher because of who she is or what she pays Wumn.
- No pieces of our own. Wumn does not make, stock or sell pieces.
- Commission. Wumn sets each seller’s commission and tells her before it applies, up to To be confirmed of a sale, and a higher rate starts only 7 days after she is told. An order bought through a link a shop shared for its own piece can carry a lower rate. So two sellers can pay different rates. The commission is the seller’s cost: it is never added to your price, and it plays no part in where pieces appear.
- Settlement. Every seller is paid on the same terms, after the return window.
If any of this changes, this page will say how before the change starts.
Has Wumn checked itself for dark patterns?
From 1 January 2027 the law asks every marketplace to audit itself for dark patterns each year.
Our first audit’s certificate will be published here once it is done.
Dark patterns are designs that trick you into buying or agreeing to something. Wumn is built to avoid them:
- No countdown timers and no flash sales.
- A stock line only from real stock, never a fixed “only a few left”.
- Every charge shown before you pay, never added at the last step.
- Nothing in your bag that you did not choose.
- No prices set for who you are: every customer sees the same price for the same piece.
- No subscriptions to sign up for or get stuck in.
If you think something on Wumn pushes you unfairly, write to care@wumn.in.
Where was this piece made?
Every listing names the piece’s country of origin, and an imported piece names its importer.
Search lets you filter by where a piece was made: choose Made in.
The law asks every listing to say where the piece was made. On Wumn the country of origin is a required field: a listing without it cannot be sent for review. A piece made outside India also names its importer’s name and address under Product information, and only a seller authorised to sell imported pieces may list them. A person at Wumn checks it with the rest of the listing before the piece goes on sale. In search, Made in filters the results by country of origin.
